Healthy City Week Bristol is a brand new initiative which aims to inspire the citizens of Bristol to achieve healthier lifestyles as part of a more sustainable future city. The packed programme includes more than 100 events, from cookery demonstrations to alternative therapy taster sessions, and local wildlife and health walks to advice on how to run a healthier business, there really is something for everyone. Here are just a few highlights:
- The Big Green Walk
12-18 October
The Big Green Walk is a virtual sponsored walk organised by 500 more and Netwalking South West, to encourage Bristol to get walking. 500 more have designed this virtual sponsored walk and invite you to join in. Set a target, count your steps and as well as improving your health and wellbeing, you will be helping raise money for local charities. - The Big Green Scheme’s Healthy City Week event
14 October
University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust’s event will engage and enthuse patients, staff and visitors on being green, share what UHBT and healthcare partners are doing to reduce our environmental impact, and raise awareness on the links between our environment, sustainability, health and wellbeing. Bristol Health Partners will be exhibiting, so come along and say hello! - Developing a healthy inclusive neighbourhood checklist
15 October
Join this discussion of what makes a healthy inclusive neighbourhood environment. The Supporting Healthy Inclusive Neighbourhood Environments Health Integration Team (SHINE HIT) will be discussing the development of an evidence-based neighbourhood ‘checklist’ for local residents, policy makers and planners to ensure the public realm has the ‘basic ingredients’ to promote and sustain physical and mental health. - Make It – developing collaborative sustainable health solutions
17-18 October
This innovative Make It weekend brings together patients and the public, health and care service providers, designers, artists and developers to work on sustainability projects in health and care in Bristol.
