Are you of African or Caribbean heritage and interested in putting an end to HIV infections and stigma in Bristol?

Common Ambition Bristol is a major new project with people of African and Caribbean heritage working in partnership with health care professionals, African Voices Forum, other charitable organisations and academics to increase HIV testing and awareness and reduce HIV stigma.

In order for this project to be a success, the project needs people of African & Caribbean heritage to work together with the team and share their ideas to help develop news ways to tackle HIV. There will be various paid and volunteer opportunities for involvement in the project. The paid roles are for a few hours each month which can be carried out alongside other part-time or full-time work.

Currently there is an opportunity to join this project as a Community Member on the Common Ambition Bristol Project Delivery group.

It is a paid position and will require a commitment of around three hours a month for three years plus five and half days of training in April and May which will also be paid.

In order to join the Project Delivery Group as a ‘Community Member’ you will be from and have good links with African and/or Caribbean heritage communities in Bristol. The right candidate will have a passion for diversity and equal opportunities and be able to think creatively, be able to evaluate information, problem solve and make decisions.

The team are looking for someone who can brief the different partners in the project on local language, culture, faith and community of different African and Caribbean heritage communities and review and provide feedback on proposed activities. There will also be an opportunity to assess, evaluate and provide ongoing feedback on the chosen activities throughout the project and help in budget planning.
