Dr Viv Harrison has been appointed as a new co-director for Bristol Health Partners’ Stroke Health Integration Team (HIT).
The HIT aims to prevent strokes and improve the lives of people affected by stroke, by bringing together clinicians, commissioners, academics, care and support providers and other experts, as well as patients, their families and carers.
Viv is a Consultant in Public Health Medicine, working across all three local authority public health teams in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire to improve population health and reduce inequalities in health. This role involves working closely with the BNSSG Integrated Care Board and Population Health Management colleagues. Viv is also a member of the BNSSG Cardiovascular Disease Programme Board.
She has been a consultant in public health medicine since 2003, working in local authority and NHS settings.
Viv says:
“As a public health professional, I aim to bring a population health perspective to complement the knowledge and skills of existing Stroke HIT co-directors, to help reduce the impact of stroke on individuals, families and communities in BNSSG.”
