Findings from a small-scale enquiry into about Caribbean and South Asian women’s experiences of living with chronic or persistent pain will be shared with practitioners in the West of England at a webinar on 27 February 2025.
This event is co-hosted by Health Innovation West of England and the National Centre for Integrative Medicine. Healthcare practitioners in the West of England are encouraged to attend the webinar.
A recording will be available publicly after the event.
Background
The project arose as a response to anecdotal evidence that women from Caribbean and South Asian communities living locally faced challenges when trying to access help for pain conditions.
The Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire diverse Research Engagement Network funded community organisation Nilaari to engage Caribbean and South Asian women in Bristol about this issue.
The women who took part shared examples of the barriers they faced during interactions with healthcare providers, and their experiences of living with chronic or persistent pain.
Members of the Network then organised a face-to-face stakeholder briefing in December 2024, supported by our Chronic Pain HIT, to share the recommendations from the initial enquiry and get feedback.
