Education, Training and Skills

The Stroke HIT aims to ensure that healthcare professionals and support workers, working in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) in health and social care with people affected by stroke, have access to up to date, holistic stroke education.

Its Education, Training and Skills Group is led by:

• Claire Fullbrook-Scanlon, Senior Lecturer, University of the West of England and Consultant Stroke Nurse, Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Foundation Trust
• Helen Ellis, Occupational Therapist / ICSS team lead, Integrated Community Stroke Service, Sirona

The group has a varied membership, including therapists, nurses, and charities working in stroke services across the region. 

The group runs regular Continuing Professional Development events for healthcare professionals and, in collaboration with Bristol After Stroke, regular ‘Life After Stroke’ patient sessions.
