An introduction to digital health and use of data for patients and the public

Bristol Health Partners and People in Health West of England are running an innovative pilot training session on digital health and use of data.

Decisions about our data are being made on a daily basis, sometimes by humans and sometimes by computers. It’s vital that patient and public voices are heard in this rapidly changing and often confusing landscape. We know from the Government’s recent Topol Review that “programmes aimed at engaging and educating the public about genomics and digital healthcare technologies should be developed”. The Bristol region is taking a first step in providing this.

Our pilot training session will support people who are currently involved in health research or improving services in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. We’ll be making use of resources from the national initiative Understanding Patient Data and hearing from local experts, to help attendees get familiar with the concepts, debates and resources available to contribute to this vital topic for our health, care and society.

The evaluation report from this pilot session will be posted on the Bristol Health Partners website in mid-April.
