Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership boosts research figures

Clinical research is on the rise in the NHS, and Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) has increased its clinical research studies by more than 20 per cent, from 32 in 2012/13 to 39 in 2013/14. The figures were part of a league table published by the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network. The league table shows the number of studies undertaken by each NHS Trust from April 2013 to March 2014, and the number of patients who volunteered to take part in clinical research.

AWP was amongst the 50 per cent of NHS Trusts across the country who increased the number of clinical research studies undertaken last year, with studies rising from 32 in 2012/13 to 39 in 2013/14.

We know that research is something that patients really value and these Trusts are creating the opportunities for patients to get involved.”
