New chair announced for Bristol Health Partners Executive Group

David Wynick becomes chair of the Bristol Health Partners Executive Group, helping to strengthen links between the Executive Group and the Board.

26 May 2016
Bristol awarded £825,000 in Urban Living Partnership funding

Urban Living Partnership funding of £825,000 is awarded to Bristol following a bid supported by Bristol Health Partners. Bristol Health Partners takes a lead on the ‘health and happiness’ theme of this ambitious research project, called Bristol Urban ID.

Psychosis on Screen

The Psychosis on Screen season at the Watershed marks the launch of the Psychosis HIT. The screenings of three contemporary films depicting experiences of psychosis are attended by more than 300 people.

17 June
Third annual Health Integration Team conference

The third annual Health Integration Team conference brings together more than 140 people from the Bristol health and care community, including Health Integration Teams, our Board and Executive Group.

22 June
Academic paper evaluating HIT model published

The National Institute for Health Research Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care West (NIHR CLAHRC West) paper on their evaluation of the HIT model is published in the journal BMC Health Services Research. Bristol case study used in WHO New Urban Agenda report

A case study showcasing Bristol’s commitment to health in its neighbourhood planning forms part of the World Health Organisation (WHO) report to inform the UN’s New Urban Agenda. The case study is included in the WHO document ‘Health as the pulse of the New Urban Agenda’ (PDF) by the Supporting Healthy Inclusive Neighbourhood Environments Health Integration Team (SHINE HIT). The Bristol case study is box six on page 20 of the document.

Inaugural meeting of Local Digital Health Research and Development Group

The first meeting of the Bristol Health Partners and Elizabeth Blackwell Institute Local Digital Health Research and Development Group is held. The group aims to use data to improve health, care and services through research.

6 October
Art exhibition by people with experience of eating disorders marks launch of new HIT

An art exhibition of work by people with experience of eating disorders marks the launch of the Eating Disorders Health Integration Team. Katie Green, author of ‘Lighter than my Shadow’, a graphic memoir of eating disorders, abuse and recovery, talks about depicting her experience of having an eating disorder in her work.

Partnerology at the West of England Academic Health Science Network annual conference

Partnerology gets another outing, this time at the West of England Academic Health Science Network Conference on innovation for sustainability and transformation. Partnerology offered an interactive approach to getting the different stakeholders in the Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs) to think ‘outside the box’ and see how they could share resources and expertise to make their plans more effective.

Healthy City Week Bristol 2016

Bristol’s second Healthy City Week, supported by Bristol Health Partners, sees more than 200 events across the city, inspiring the citizens of Bristol to make positive changes for health and wellbeing that don’t cost the earth.

Bristol Urban ID project launches

As part of Healthy City Week, the Bristol Urban ID project launches. Led by the University of Bristol’s Cabot Institute, Bristol Health Partners is an applicant and collaborator on the ‘health and happiness’ theme of this project.

Bristol Health Partners Board and Executive Group away day

Bristol Health Partners Board and Executive Group members take part in an away day at the M Shed. The day aims to explore the future role and focus of the partnership as it nears the end of the existing collaboration agreement.

24 November
Executive Group meets to prioritise Health Integration Teams’ work streams

The Bristol Health Partners Executive Group meets to prioritise Health Integration Teams’ work streams. HITs submitted projects that aligned with the local Sustainability Transformation Plan for consideration for accelerated funding.

9 January
STITCH HIT’s work highlighted in National Suicide Prevention Strategy progress report

The work of the Improving Care in Self-Harm Health Integration Team (STITCH HIT) is recognised in the Department of Health’s third National Suicide Prevention Strategy progress report. STITCH is highlighted as a case study on page 21 of the report, which details the activity that has taken place across England to reduce deaths by suicide in the year ending March 2016.

17-18 January
HITs benefit from ‘Exploring Leadership’ immersion training

28 HIT Directors and team members, project managers and public contributors participate in the ‘Exploring Leadership’ immersion training. The training need was identified through CLAHRC West’s interviews with HIT Directors, so Bristol Health Partners commissioned Common Purpose to create this bespoke course.

Mental Health HIT seminar proves a hit with commissioners

Lunchtime seminar for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire commissioners and Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership management on improving mental health care pathways across the STP footprint. Five HITs gave presentations on key aspects of their work.

Using Partnerology to broaden engagement with patients and the public

The Bristol Health Partners walking game Partnerology gets another outing when People in Health West of England (PHWE) borrow it to play with public involvement leads and public contributors from their network.

30 January
West of England Work and Health Thinktank

In partnership with Bristol City Council, Bristol Health Partners runs the first West of England Work and Health Thinktank, bringing together more than 90 policy makers, service providers, decision takers and people with long term conditions and disabilities.

14 March
HITs apply for Bristol Health Partners support for their core activities

Health Integration Teams apply for resources from Bristol Health Partners to support their core activities during the financial year ahead. The Bristol Health Partners Executive Group meets a week later to prioritise the applications to ensure future investment is strategically focused.
