The Bristol Health Partners team would like to congratulate our colleague Connie Shiridzinomwa who has been selected for the 2024 NIHR Senior Research Leader Programme for nurses and midwives.
Connie is the only person from the 2024 cohort representing the West of England Clinical Research Network.
The three-year Senior Research Leader Programme offers nurses and midwives the opportunity to shape and embed a research culture within their organisation and beyond.
A research nurse by background, Connie is Senior Project Manager for three of our Health Integration Teams: Eating Disorders, Healthy Weight and Bristol Bones and Joints. She also manages the Protected Characteristics Project, which is collecting characteristics data on health research participants with the aim of improving the diversity of people taking part in health research.
Connie says:
“ I feel very blessed to be awarded this opportunity. It is my passion to create an environment where African, Caribbean and Asian nurses feel able to deliver and empowered to lead health research. In the long run this is most likely going to have an impact on the diversity of people who take part in research.”
