The British Heart Foundation has
announced two new fellowship schemes for nurses and allied health
professionals. Both schemes are outlined below and further details for both
calls can be found on the
British Heart Foundation website.
Career
Development Research Fellowships for Nurses and Allied Health Professionals
The British
Heart Foundation invites applications for its career development research
fellowships for nurses and allied health professionals. These enable
researchers with an established research record who intend to become leaders in
academic nursing or allied health professional research to spend time in an
established research institution in the UK.
Applicants must
hold a PhD or equivalent taught practitioner doctorate. They must have the
support of a named senior investigator who will guarantee access to space and
resources and provide scientific guidance for the duration of their fellowship.
Fellowships last
for three years, with the possibility of a two year extension. Awards may
include the salary of the applicant, the salary for technician or research
assistant if required and fully justified, research consumables and equipment.
Research
Training Fellowships for Nurses and Allied Health Professionals
The British
Hearth Foundation invites applications for its research training fellowships
for nurses and allied health professionals. These provide nurses and allied health
professionals with a foundation in research training in an established research
institution in the UK, leading to the award of a PhD.
Applications
must be submitted by an established investigator who will be the supervisor for
the named student. The primary
supervisor must devote a minimum of 10 per cent of their time to supervising the
student and a second supervisor should also be included. The student should usually hold a good
quality masters degree or equivalent.
Fellowships
usually last for three years, although applications for up to five years will
be considered to enable part-time working. They include salary costs and
research consumables usually worth up to £10,000 per year
Dates for the first call for both Fellowships in 2019 haven’t yet been announced. There will
be two calls for each scheme a year.
