A new app developed by Bristol Health Partners’ Bladder and Bowel Confidence Health Integration Team (BABCON HIT), which signposts people to find help with continence issues, has been shortlisted for a 2021 Nursing Times Award.
The free CONfidence app, which launched in June during World Continence Week, enables people with bladder and bowel symptoms to access information and advice that can help. It brings together trusted and reliable information, informed by national clinical, and patient and public experts providing specialist bladder and bowel care.
To design and build the app, BABCON HIT worked with Expert Self Care Ltd, who previously developed the award-winning DistrACT app for people at risk of self-harm, in collaboration with the Bristol Health Partners’ Improving Care in Self-Harm (STITCH) HIT.
BABCON HIT director, Dr Nikki Cotterill, is Associate Professor in Continence Care and Florence Nightingale Foundation Leadership Scholar at the University of the West of England (UWE) Bristol. Nikki says:
“I’m absolutely delighted that the CONfidence app has been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award. It’s a great recognition of a huge collaborative effort, which has enabled us to place advice and guidance about continence issues in the hands of people who can benefit, at the touch of a screen.”
CONfidence is shortlisted in the 2021 Nursing Times Awards Continence Promotion and Care category. Winners will be announced on 27 October, at an event in London. See the shortlist
