The
prize recognises early or mid-career researchers who have made a significant
and specific contribution to the addictions field in recent years.
Dr
Thomas’s work was praised for its focus on being topical, complex and tackling
a neglected area. It was also praised for having an impact on the policy of
regulators and NICE.
Dr
Thomas is a co-Director of the Drug and Alcohol HIT, as well as being a
Consultant Senior Lecturer in Public Health Medicine at the University of
Bristol, Clinical Director for NIHR Clinical Research Network West of England
and a Public Health Consultant at South Gloucestershire Council. She shares the
award with Dr Hamid Noori.
