Our Eating Disorders Health Integration Team (EDHIT) is sorry to say goodbye to Helen Malson, who is stepping down as the Academic Director for the HIT, as she is moving to Australia.
Helen was part of the initial application to form the EDHIT in 2016, and has been its Academic Director ever since. The EDHIT grew and developed under Helen’s leadership and Helen has been key in driving research within the team. One of the papers on eating disorders and primary care Helen published in her role as Academic Director was featured in the parliamentary recommendations for eating disorders.
Helen is passionate about improving the experience of people living with eating disorders and championing equality, diversity and inclusion. She will truly be missed by all the team members and the wider partnership, who wish her well on her new adventure.
Following Helen’s departure, EDHIT is delighted to welcome Christine Ramsey-Wade as its new Academic Director.
Christine is a Senior Lecturer at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) in counselling psychology. She has worked in the eating disorders field for many years, first as a clinician, and then as a trainer and researcher. She has published on creative, arts-based interventions for eating disorders, and co-published in this area with people with lived experience. She is a member of the Centre of Appearance Research at UWE Bristol, where she co-leads their Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee. Her current research is focusing on mindfulness and disordered eating, and she is a trained mindful eating teacher.
