Associate Professor in Continence Care Dr Nikki Cotterill has been awarded a prestigious Florence Nightingale Foundation Leadership Scholarship to develop her work in bladder and bowel continence care. The highly coveted award, which the Foundation says was oversubscribed with very high quality entries this year, will see Nikki mentored by Joanne Bosanquet, Deputy Director of Nursing for Public Health England.

Nikki has been working at CLAHRC West as Post-Doc Nurse Fellow in Continence Care and has recently been made an Associate Professor at UWE. The scholarship will see her develop and deliver a high impact programme in her specialist field, including working with other continence experts and patients to develop a Bristol Health Partners Health Integration Team (HIT).

The scholarship includes residential, networking and other development opportunities, including sessions with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Nikki will soon be meeting with Joanne to decide which elements of the development programme she will pursue.

Nikki said:

“I am absolutely delighted to be awarded this scholarship. It will give me the opportunity to develop some really exciting projects, alongside building up my own skills. Although continence is not a glamorous field to work in, it is so vital to human dignity. It’s an important field of research, and I am proud that the foundations I’ve been able to build over recent years have led to this award.”
